What are the best AI visibility tools for small businesses?
Updated 10 July 2026 · by Alex Elantsev (Ocean)
The short answer
For most small businesses in 2026: Otterly.AI if you want the cheapest self-serve tracker (from ~$25/month), Peec AI for mid-market analytics (from ~€89/month), Profound at enterprise scale (from ~$499/month) — and Surfacedddif you’d rather have the optimization work done for you with tracking included. Know what you’re buying, though: every self-serve tool on this list is a scoreboard, not a player — the hard, time-consuming part (the actual 20-step optimization work) stays on your plate. Surfaceddd is the option where that part is our job.
Full disclosure: Surfaceddd is on our own list — we build one of these. We’ve kept every description factual and put real competitors first where they’re the better fit. Prices are entry points as of July 2026; check each vendor for current numbers.
The comparison at a glance
The “effort on you”column is the one buyers skip and shouldn’t: it rates how much of the actual optimization work each option leaves on your plate. A self-serve tracker still hands you the full 20-step job — plus a dashboard to check every week.
| Tool | Best for | Model | Entry price | Effort on you |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Surfaceddd | Local businesses that want the work done for them | Done-for-you service, tracking dashboard included | $200 one-time audit | Easyone call — we track and we fix |
| Otterly.AI | Cheapest self-serve monitoring | DIY software | ~$25–29/month | Hardtool tracks, all fixing is on you |
| Peec AI | Marketing teams wanting deeper analytics | DIY software | ~€89/month | Harddeeper reports, same homework — you execute |
| Profound | Enterprise brands | DIY software (enterprise) | ~$499/month | Hardassumes a team exists to act on it |
| Scrunch AI | Mid-market teams | DIY software | Custom | Hardinsights in, your hours out |
| Semrush AI Toolkit / Ahrefs Brand Radar | Teams already paying for an SEO suite | Add-on to existing suite | On top of suite subscription | Hardanother report tab, the to-do list is still yours |
1. Surfaceddd — for owners who want it done, not another dashboard
Every other entry on this list is software: it shows you the problem and leaves the fixing to you. Surfaceddd is the inverse — a done-for-you AEO service for local businesses (audit from $200, implementation from $999) with a per-client tracking dashboard included, covering mention rate, citations and trends. If you’re a tradie or local service business without a marketing team, this is the option where nobody in your business has to learn schema markup. Pricing here — and where a self-serve tool is honestly the better fit, the entries below are good.
2. Otterly.AI — cheapest way to just start measuring
The most accessible self-serve monitor: from roughly $25–29/month it tracks a small set of prompts daily across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity and Copilot. Limits are tight at the entry tier (~15 prompts), but for a single-location business that wants to watch its own name, it’s the lowest-cost start in the category.
What owning it actually involves:you choose and maintain the prompt set, you check the dashboard, and when it shows you’re invisible — which, first time, it will — every fix is yours to research and make. The subscription buys the bad news, not the cure. Budget the tool plus the 20-step workload.
3. Peec AI — the mid-market analytics pick
Peec (from ~€89/month for 25 prompts) adds competitor benchmarking, source analysis and team features. It’s built for marketing teams that run AEO as an ongoing channel and want to know why a competitor gets cited, not just whether you do.
What owning it actually involves:richer reports mean more homework, not less — someone has to read the source analysis, turn it into schema changes, content rewrites and outreach, and do that every month. Without a person who owns those hours, it’s an expensive way to watch competitors win.
4. Profound — enterprise-grade, enterprise-priced
The category’s best-funded player (reportedly a $1B valuation in 2026). Deep answer-engine analytics, agent traffic analysis and enterprise integrations, with entry around $499/month. Overkill for a local business; the right call for national brands with dedicated search teams — emphasis on dedicated: the platform assumes a team exists to interpret it and execute on it. If that team is you after closing time, it’s the wrong shelf.
5. Scrunch AI — mid-market alternative
Positions between the budget monitors and Profound, with a focus on how AI agents experience your site and custom pricing. Worth a demo if you’re a multi-location brand comparing against Peec — with the same caveat as everything self-serve here: insights go in, your hours come out.
6. Semrush AI Toolkit / Ahrefs Brand Radar — if you already pay for the suite
Both big SEO suites bolted AI-visibility modules onto their platforms. Neither is the deepest tracker on this list, but if your agency or in-house team already lives in Semrush or Ahrefs, the add-on route avoids another subscription and keeps AI mentions next to your SEO data. It’s another report tab, though — the to-do list it generates still lands on your desk.
How to choose
- Nobody in the business has time to learn AEO? Done-for-you service (that’s us) — the tool comes with it.
- Happy to do the work, just need measurement? Otterly to start; Peec when you outgrow it.
- Enterprise brand, dedicated team? Profound or Scrunch.
- Already on Semrush/Ahrefs? Try the add-on before buying anything new.
What no visibility tool will do
Measure, alert, chart — yes. But a tracker doesn’t write your schema, fix your listings, earn your reviews or publish question-shaped content. A self-serve subscription addsa weekly reporting habit to your calendar and removes nothing from it — measurement without implementation is a scoreboard for a game you’re not playing. The actual work is here (all 20 steps, difficulty-rated) — do it yourself or weigh up having it done.
